Two people have been arrested after gardai foiled what's believed to have been a planned gangland hit in the city.
A loaded gun and halloween mask were found in a car stopped in Rathborne Village in Ashtown at around 5pm yesterday.
Finglas Gardai arrested the man and a woman after tracking the vehicle through the city.
A loaded handgun, silencer, ammo, petrol canister and a halloween mask were uncovered, and the pair in their 30s were arrested at the scene.
The man is well known to gardai and believed to be connected to the Hutch family, however the murder attempt is not thought to be connected to the ongoing feud with the Kinahan cartel.
Crime Editor with the Irish Sun Stephen Breen says "there are a number of feuds in the capital, you have the one going on in West Dublin where two people have already lost their lives but this something separate, primarily relating to north Dublin where you have an individual in Finglas who does have connections across the city to criminal gangs and is trying to make a name for himself."
Recently, the Assistant Garda Commissioner revealed detectives have prevented around 40 murder attempts in the feud with the Kinahan cartel.
