Work at a Baggot Street construction site was temporarily brought to a halt today - after a rogue scorpion scuttled out of a batch of building supplies.
The alarm was raised when the unexpected visitor crawled out of a delivery of kitchen sinks – believed to have arrived in from Turkey.
Workers immediately notified the DSPCA – and officers have since called in experts to identify the creature.
Only a handful of Scorpion species are deadly - but many can deliver a nasty sting.
DSPCA spokesperson Gillian Bird said workers got “quite a shock” when the scorpion emerged:
The society is looking for a suitable home for the intrepid arachnid – nicknamed JP by staff.
