Two men have been arrested after a taxi was hijacked in Cabra. The car, which was taken on Ballyboggan Road at half two this morning, was spotted on the M50 and eventually stopped at Mellows Crescent in Finglas by a garda who suffered injuries to his arm. He has been treated at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.
Two men in their twenties and thirties arrested at the scene are being held at Finglas Garda Station.
President of the Taxi Drivers Federation Joe Herron said it’s lucky nobody else was seriously hurt "what we don't know is what the intentions of these individuals were when they got the taxi", he explained.
Joe says the courts need to send out a clear message that this behaviour is unacceptable "I think that anybody whether it's a taxi driver, garda, ambulance driver... if anyone interferes with them as they carry out there duty there should be a penalty imposed", he said.
