UCD have lost nearly 50 on-campus student beds.
47 rooms at the university's student accommodation in Muckross Halls in Donnybrook is owned by the Dominican Order of nuns and was leased to the university for housing.
But now The Irish Times report the religious order is redeveloping the land for educational purposes.
The lease was renewed on an annual basis until this year when the order terminated the agreement “at very late notice” ahead of the new college term.
The beds are located on the site of the Muckross Dominican convent and Muckross Park girls secondary school and is owned by the Dominican Order.
