Ireland's leading organisation providing support, education and information services about depression and bipolar disorder is looking for volunteers.
Aware is calling for 40 people in the Greater Dublin area to join the "Aware Support Line" team, which is a free service providing callers with telephone support and information.
According to the latest estimates, around 450,000 people in Ireland are now living with depression, while 45,000 people in Ireland are experiencing bipolar disorder.
Aware, which has seen calls to its helpline rise, is looking for new volunteers to help it meet demand.
Brid O'Meara said the service is "crucial" and that "without more volunteers and an additional phone line we are running the risk of those calls going unanswered".
"We know we can make a real difference to our callers and it is why we are asking the people to join our team and be a voice of hope for someone experiencing depression", she said.
