South Dublin County Council has submitted plans for a visitor centre in the Dublin mountains to An Bord Pleanála.
The local authority and Coillte want to develop the famous Hell Fire Club as a tourist attraction.
The €15m project would include an exhibition space, café and shop, a rambler's lounge and toilets.

There would also be a tree top canopy foot bridge from Massys Wood Forrests over the Old Military Road.
SDCC says the proposal "provides for the enhancement of the mountain landscape around the visitor centre by replacing large areas of coniferous forest with broad-leaved woodland on Montpelier Hill."
