The Irish DIY supplies chain Woodie's has been given the backing of the people in charge of David Bowie's estate to re-record one of his most popular songs for charity.
As part of a major charity fundraising drive workers, suppliers and friends of Woodie's have secured the rights to release 'Heroes'.
A one hundred strong choir led by MayKay from Fight like Apes have recorded the track which will be sold in Woodie's from July 31st, and is available to download here now.
This is the third year that Woodie's have embarked on a major fundraising campaign, and are hoping to raise €190,000 for four of Ireland's largest children's charities.
Make A Wish, ACT for Meningitis, Temple Street and Jack & Jill Foundation will all benefit from sales of the re-recorded Bowie track.
Woodie's CEO Declan Ronayne said the success of the fundraiser is "a testament to the employees and customers", and admitted it is "a true privilege to be involved" in raising money for the charities.
As well as releasing the charity single, Woodie's will raise money through a number of activities in and out of their work place over the next month.
