A man has been released from questioning in connection with the murder of a man in Swords at the weekend. 56 year old Dermot Byrne was found seriously injured on North Street at around 3 o'clock yesterday morning.
It's understood he had been beaten and stripped, perhaps in an attempt to remove the attacker's blood and DNA from the crime scene. Mr. Byrne's injuries were so severe that he was pronounced dead a short time later by paramedics.
He had no convictions and was not known to Gardai, who are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
A 29 year old man arrested in south Dublin in connection with the man's murder on Sunday has been released without charge.
