The body of a child stabbed to death at an apartment on the southside has been removed from the scene.
Emergency services were called to the Poddle Park area of Kimmage at around 7 o'clock yesterday evening.
A woman in her 40s was taken to St James Hospital with knife wounds.
The Garda Technical Bureau has been attending the scene today.
Gardaí are said to be following a definite line of inquiry.

Neighbours, meanwhile, have been leaving tributes outside Riverside Apartments - including teddy bears, flowers, and burning candles.
Someone has tied a toy giraffe to the gates of the complex, also leaving a note that simply asks 'why?'
It's believed the boy's mum is Iranian and they had been living in Kimmage for some time.
