Health Minister Simon Harris will today launch a new National Cancer Strategy for the next ten years.
The plan is aimed at bringing the management of national cancer care up to the year 2026.
It will focus on prevention, early, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life.
Experts have long known that early detection is vital when it comes to treating cancer - and now the Government has come up with a strategy designed to catch it quickly.
It is reported the strategy will cost up to €2 billion over the next decade.
Ministers will view the plan this morning before it is officially published.
