After six years in the job, Enda Kenny is resigning as Taoiseach this afternoon. He says it's "a milestone day" for him as he steps down.
After a rapturous reception at a special parliamentary party meeting, he will travel to Aras an Uachtarán for the last time as Taoiseach to tender his resignation.
Frances Fitzgerald has paid tribute to the man who made her Tánaiste "he's fostered talent, he has worked so hard on Ireland's international reputation. I think he restored it, people got to know Ireland because they knew Enda Kenny".
Leo Varadkar will take over tomorrow; he's just appointed Simon Coveney as his Deputy.
"Simon and I will work together to guide the participation by Fine Gael in the Government, and reform and modernise the Fine Gael Party in the years ahead", he said.
Minister Coveney said he was "honoured" and said he plans to play a "strong role" in this "exciting new chapter" for Fine gael.
