Two people have been killed on the roads this June Bank Holiday Monday.
A man in his 40s died after being struck by a car on the Coolgreany Road in Arklow, County Wicklow at about 2:20am.
His body was removed to St. Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown, where a post mortem examination will be carried out. The driver of the car was not injured.
Later this morning in County Louth, a man in his 50s dies after his truck crashed on the M1 near Julianstown.
The single vehicle crash happened at about 8:30am this morning between junctions 7 and 8 southbound. The southbound carriageway of the motorway remains closed and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to any of the collisions to contact them.
