New 30km per hour speed limits come into effect in Dublin city from midnight. It's part of a roll out of Dublin City Council's 'slow zones' in place along the quays.
This time urban and residential areas between the two canals are being included, among them Sandymount, Crumlin, Drimnagh, Raheny, Artane, Donaghmede, Drumcondra and Phibsborough.
Bye-laws for the 30km/hr expansion were adopted by Dublin City councillors in December last year, after public consultation.
The phase two expansion is mostly aimed at housing estates and areas around schools and won't affect any major commuter roads this time, however the possibility of a third phase roll out to include them will be reviewed next year.
