A new study has found the majority of rental properties are out of reach for those on housing benefits.
The Simon Community research found that 88% of homes and apartments were outside the limits of Rent Supplement and the Housing Assistant Payments scheme.
The organisation are launching their 'Locked out of the market' study this morning, which looked at 600 properties in 11 areas across the country.
Outlining some of the key findings, Simon Communities Spokesperson Niamh Randall said: "Well there was only 72 properties which fell within rent supplements and housing assistant payment limits so that was very few in 11 areas around the country."
She added: What it really demonstrates is the real pressure in terms of supply and the major impact it's having for those in the the lower end of the market and particulary those in receipt of housing assistant payments."
