Psychiatric nurses at St Patrick's Hospital have voted in favour of industrial action in a row over pensions.
It's due to the closure of their Defined Benefit Pension scheme from June without staff consultation.
In the Inter Union Group ballot, 97% voted in favour of the industrial action. The group has now told management they plan to commence industrial action on May 24th.
The termination of this scheme will affect around 500 nurses.
Nurses have been holding regular protests on hospital grounds against the decision to close the scheme.
St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services said the decision was taken in an effort to protect workers – as the value of the scheme is likely to decline in the coming years.
