A man has been arrested by armed police close to government buildings in London. He's being questioned on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack.
The 27-year-old suspect was carrying a rucksack with several knives. Scotland Yard says he was stopped by armed police as part of a stop and search operation, and was wrestled to the ground.
A statement said he "was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism."
"Detectives from the Counter Terrorism Command are continuing their investigation, and as a result of this arrest there is no immediate known threat."
