The Citizens Assembly has voted to amend or replace the Eighth Amendment.
50 members voted for to either replace or amend the eighth amendment, compared to 39 who wanted it repealed.
Earlier today, the group voted by an overwhelming majority to recommend a referendum on the Eight Amendment.
The first results came in just after midday and showed that over 87% voted to say that the Eight Amendment of the Constitution should NOT be retained in full.
Today's events at the Citizens' Assembly suffered a minor setback - when shortly after the results of ballot 1 were read out, there was a power cut in Malahide, which left the room in darkness and unable to proceed with events.
A report will be prepared by the Chairperson of the Citizens Assembly - Justice Mary Laffoy - for the Oireachtas after this weekend's vote, which is due to be published by the end of June this year.
