Gardaí investigating the death of an ex-IRA boss in Cork have made a number of arrests.
37-year-old Aidan O'Driscoll was shot in the Blackpool area of the city centre almost three weeks before Christmas.
Detectives arrested five people - three men in their 20s, one man in his 70s and a woman in her 20s. They're being held at separate Garda stations in Cork.
Aidan O'Driscoll was shot on Great William O’Brien Street in Blackpool, County Cork on Wednesday 7th December last year. He received attention at the scene and was rushed to Cork University Hospital, where he later died.
He was originally from Donaghmede in Dublin and was the former boss of the RIRA and was also thought to be involved in feuds with Dublin gangs.
