New lower speed limits come into effect in some parts of the city from this week.
From Friday, 30 kilometres per hour will be the top speed limit for drivers around Dolphin's Barn, Kilmainham and Smithfield
Councillors backed this move in December. Conor Faughnan from The AA says Dublin City Council need to police this properly, if it's going to work:
"It needs to be properly designed and my exasperation with Dublin City Council is that they don't seem to be bothering to do that. I mean, they seem to take the view that ... put the number 30 on a pole and consider that as job done".
The measure is also set to be extended to residential zones like Sandymount, Drimnagh Crumlin, Glasnevin and Cabra at the end of May.
