Stepaside garda station is to reopen as part of a pilot scheme.
It was closed 4 years ago to save the force money.
Stepaside garda station was closed in early 2013 as part of cost saving measures.
There were major objections to the move at the time from locals and businesses worried that it would result in a rise in burglaries.
Figures released last year show that crime including robberies, was up in south Co Dublin with the closure of Stepaside blamed in part for the rise.
Now the Irish Times says that 6 stations include Stepaside will be reopened on a pilot basis.
It was one of the main demands from Transport Minister Shane Ross when he went into government.
The move is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
