Dublin City Council spent over €1 million cleaning up the city's graffiti.
They’ve joined forces with the Gardaí for a new campaign, Think Don’t Tag.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among young people that tagging and vandalism is a criminal offence.
"That million euro is money that we'd be looking for to put into other facilities such as sporting facilities, recreation facilities for young kids" says Lord Mayor Brendan Carr.
"But unfortunately, because of this new phenomenon coming in, this tagging, it's cost us so much time and money to clean that up that we can't actually do what we want to do".
