A court’s heard a former chronic drug addict is institutionalised and makes his bedroom up like a cell whenever he is released from jail.
35 year old Ian Quinn of St Aongus Park in Tallaght appeared before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today after pleading guilty to robbing a bookies in the Castletymon Shopping Centre.
In September 2015, two women were working in the bookies when they saw a man approach them aggressively with a scarf over his face.
The court heard the women ran into a back room, locked the door, hit the panic alarm and rang 999.
One of the women said the accused shouted ‘’come out, come out. I’m going to kill yous.’
He then smashed the security screen with a stool and stole almost one thousand euro.
35 year old Ian Quinn was later arrested and made full admissions.
The court heard he was a chronic drug addict at the time and was so skeletal in appearance the gardai brought him to hospital.
The Judge was told the accused has spent most of his adult life incarcerated and has a fear of freedom.
The dad of one was jailed for four years which is to run alongside another sentence he’s already serving for the possession of a gun and another robbery.
