A convicted rapist who admits sexually assaulting an au pair on the Dart has been released on further bail.
51 year old Paul Moore of Mountjoy Square has received six jail terms for rape and sexual assault over the past 25 years.
The court heard in this case in August 2014 Paul Moore sat near a young woman on the southside DART and made small talk with her.
He then commented on her clothes and although she tried to ignore him he touched her breasts and pulled at her trousers.
Paul Moore wasn’t apprehended until two years later and in that time he had sexually assaulted two women in separate incidents in the city centre.
He also has two convictions for rape from 1995 and 2001.
He pleaded guilty to the assault on the DART and the Judge adjourned sentencing until today so she could hear from his case officer in the Probation service. Judge Melanie Greally said she was concerned about the accused’s inability to desist from offending no matter what punishment was imposed.
However this morning the court heard the case officer isn’t in the country so the matter has now been put back until the 16th of March.
Paul Moore has been remanded on continuing bail until then.
The court’s previously heard there are conflicting opinions on what caused Paul Moore to commit these crimes.
One psychiatric report blamed a head injury he received in 1982 while another blamed an “organic personality disorder.”
