Two men are due back in court after being found guilty of killing their friend over a Chihuahua.
The sentence hearing of 25 year old Wayne Cluskey and 24 year old Josh Turner of Mooretown in Ratoath will take place this morning.
It was the Prosecution’s case that Christopher Nevin died after struck with an axe and a hatchet at a house in Navan in November 2015.
The court heard the two accused men had called to see Mr Nevin that day because Josh Turner had lent him a Chihuahua to breed with his female dogs and he wanted to collect what he was owed.
Both men had denied murder but after over seven hours of deliberations earlier this month the jury found Josh Turner guilty of murder and Wayne Cluskey was convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Their sentence hearing is due to take place this morning when the victim’s family will give a victim impact statement.
