An unlicensed driver who killed a cyclist on the Clontarf Road has had his jail time increased.
27 year old Christopher Coleman of Reuben Street was jailed for two and a half years for dangerous driving causing the death of Eugene Maher in 2015. He had been banned from driving at the time and he left the scene of the crash.
The victim’s daughter Lisa spoke outside court - after the accused had his sentence increased by a further nine months.
"The severity of these sentences needs to be changed. It needs to be vehicular manslaughter. It's as bad as going out and killing somebody by a hand, gun or fist".
"My dad was killed by a car, but it doesn't seem to be taken as seriously", she added.
