It’s been confirmed that the body removed from the Grand Canal yesterday is that of missing Cork man Damien O’Brien.
The 37-year-old – who is originally from Clonakilty – went missing near the Baggot Street Bridge two weeks ago today.
Garda divers recovered his body from the canal at lunchtime yesterday and a post mortem exam was carried out today. It confirmed that the body is Damian.
It follows an intense campaign by his family and friends to find him including setting up a facebook page with 14 thousand members.
