Siobhan O'Connor

I’ve always had an interest in broadcasting. I did a degree in DIT in film and broadcasting. After college I went traveling, oh how I loved those years. When I got back from my travels I started writing for the Sunday Independent. I did a brief stint on Ireland Am and then ended up in the arms of Dermot and Dave, don’t ya just love happy endings!

Are you married or single? Married

Do you have any children? No

How old are you? 28

What’s your favourite TV show? Currently I’d have to say Grey’s Anatomy but I change with the seasons..

What do you listen to on your ipod/cd player when you’re not working? I like songs not bands. I’m definitely not a muso type. I like a bit of everything from pop to dance mainly – anything for a good bop.   

Who is the most famous person you have ever met/your idol? Most definitely Colin Farrell. I met him in Renards, I nearly died!

What actor do you admire the most and why? My good friend Mary Woods, she has done a good few plays in Ireland but she has worked in LA and New York on some movies. I love her as she never gave up her dream of becoming an actress. She inspires me.

Do you have a pet? No I did have a dog before but he was a cross between a Labrador and a greyhound so he became quite violent after a few years and we had to put him down. It was so tragic and depressing to see him die that I think after that I went off the idea of pets!

What do you get up to when you hang up your headphones and get home/pastimes? I go to the New You Gym and try to get fit with Dave or I go out with my mates for dinners – I know it’s a bit of a contradiction!

Your most embarrassing moment? I’ve so many at this stage that I’ve lost count.  

What dish do you like? Do you cook? Unfortunately I love all food. There is nothing I don’t eat. I’m really only learning to cook now since I got married. I can do a mean lasagna or so my husband says! I think he’s afraid if he doesn’t give me compliments I won’t cook at all!      

Do you have any bad habits? I quit smoking again two weeks ago. It’s like I’m eternally quitting but this time it better be for good. I probably have a million others but I’m not going to admit them.    

How did you get the job at 98FM? I applied for a job as a reporter and things went from there.
