The main developer of the new town at Cherrywood wants 41 million euro for 126 social housing homes.
Hines Ireland has applied for planning permission to build almost 13-hundred apartments as well as shops, restaurants and cafes.
Ten percent of the project must be social housing.
The company wants €243,000 for a one bed apartment and €442,000 for a three bed.
Speaking to 98FM News local Green Party rep, Ossian Smyth, says there isn't a snowball's chance in hell they'll pay that:
"They've come to us with a ridiculous estimate and there's no way we're going to pay 41 million for 126 apartments. They're not on the right planet. They can well afford to do this because they're making billions out of this deal."
