Two prisoners have been seriously injured after a fight broke out at Mountjoy Prison this morning.
They have sustained slash and stab injuries from a weapon and have been taken to hospital
One was injured in the head and the other was hurt in the torso.
Their injuries are said to be serious but not life threatening.
One of the injured prisoners is Thomas Fox (29) from Rutland Court.
He's due to stand trial next year at the Special Criminal Court accused of the murder of Gareth Hutch - a nephew of the Monk.
The dad of one (35) was shot dead as he was getting into his car outside Avondale House flats on North Cumberland Street last May.
It's understood the second victim is a convicted murderer who is serving a life sentence in the Joy.
It’s unclear why this fight started.
The Irish Prison Service has confirmed that two inmates were injured during an incident at Mountjoy Jail this morning and it has launched an investigation.
