Teens are to be offered sexual consent classes in schools as part of a new programme.
The Irish Independent reports Children's Minister Katherine Zappone is leading the campaign.
The course will be offered to 16 year olds in 60 schools and educators hope it will change perceptions about consent and sexual violence.
Meanwhile the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is urging people to make sure they don't find themselves vulnerable.
It's asking groups of friends and family to stick together if they're out at night.
CEO of the DRCC Noeline Blackwell said: "If there is no consent, an assault is taking place. We will hear about these assaults in the new year, sometimes very serious assaults up to and including rape."
She added: "Please you can help it not to happen by making sure you have the consent of your partner at all times."
