Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Champions League winners Real Madrid after eight years at the club since joining them in 2009 from Manchester United.
The 32 year old scored twice in this year's European decider against Juventus but now wants to leave the city and club that he has had the most success in as a player with eleven titles.
Spanish prosecutors have accused Ronaldo of defrauding the authorities of 14.7 million euro is tax, an accusation he is contesting. Ronaldo denies the accusation and A Bola say the striker has made the "irreversible" decision to leave the club, and has informed his teammates of his intentions.
Arguably the most talented footballer in the world, Ronaldo still has a few years of football left in him and the transfer speculation will now begin on whether or not he will return to Old Trafford or go elsewhere.
"I have nothing but praise for the boy. He is easily the best player in the world. He is better than Kaka and better than Messi. He is streets ahead of them all. His contribution as a goal threat is unbelievable. His stats are incredible. Strikes at goal, attempts on goal, raids into the penalty box, headers. It is all there. Absolutely astounding." Sir Alex Ferguson, 2009.
