Dublin City Council CEO Owen Keegan has hinted a ban on buses and taxis on College Green could be announced soon.
The local authority is to reveal major plans for traffic flow in the area in the next three weeks.
Owen Keegan says pedestrians are waiting twice as long to cross at Grafton Street than before, because of the new Luas Cross City Line.
And he's told councillors the frequency of trams there isn't even at its planned optimum point yet.
Mr. Keegan says the wait for pedestrians at lights is unacceptably long and will be a real problem in the summer when there's more footfall.
That suggests there may have to be less buses and cars if pedestrians' waiting times are to be reduced.
The man known as the Traffic Czar is to meet with stakeholders like Dublin Bus and reps for taxi drivers to get agreement.
