There are plans for the development of more than 1000 homes on the South Circular Road.
The proposed project will go on display today for public consultation.
According to the Irish Times, the lands are made up of 3 separate sites, a former cigarette factory and packaging plant, which are both in the hands of receivers and St. Teresa's Gardens at the back.
Demolition work by the city council has already started on St. Teresa's Gardens to make way for 540 new social, affordable and private homes.
Now rather than have the sited developed as standalone communites, the council has drafted an overall master plan to ensure that part of the South Circular Road becomes a vibrant, mixed use urban quarter.
This would include new streets, parks, sports fields and playgrounds.
