Eoghan Murphy, Minister For Housing, announced this morning that new rental restrictions will be put in place from June 2019.
The restrictions hope to stop rental services such as Airbnb from taking up housing stock and will hopefully create more long-term rental availability.
Once the restrictions come in to place homeowners will only be able to let out part or all of their own home for a maximum of 90 days per year.
Planning permission will be required for landlords who wish to let out our their properties on a short term basis.
It's hoped these stricter rules will increase housing stock amidst the current housing crisis.
