A new bus service will soon connect commuters in Finglas to the Luas Green line at Broombridge.
The National Transport Authority and Dublin Bus have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to put the new route on line as soon as possible.
Deputy Noel Rock says commuters could use the service from as early as March.
Rock believes the new bus route could have an impact on a decision to extend the Luas out to Finglas in the future: “I am hopeful this bus connection could be the first step in the process of getting an actual Luas extension to Finglas - something that would greatly enhance our community here. Luas is a great service and we cannot stop at last month’s expansion of the Green Line. We must look to what people need in the future and what best works for them."
"I would hope to see a Luas extension to Finglas being announced in the very near future. It was included in the NTA's plan for Dublin. It's a very logical extension to the line."
"Finglas is entirely dependent on the bus network so I think it's quite clear we need to see some investment in Finglas."
