A man has been charged with criminal damage after homophobic slogans were scrawled on the George.
The graffiti attack, on one of Dublin’s best known gay bars, happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The derogatory language and a swastika, which were written in chalk, have since been removed.
This morning, 23 year old Eoin Berkeley of Hamptonwood Way in Finglas appeared before the Dublin District Court charged with criminal damage.
He has been released on bail with six strict conditions including that he stays away from the George and remains sober.
He must also sign on daily at Ballymun Garda Station, reside at the given address and stay out of Dublin 2.
The court heard CCTV footage will be disclosed in the case and further charges may follow.
The accused, who was dressed in a green hoody and navy tracksuit bottoms, said ‘yeah’ when he was asked if he understood the bail conditions.
The Judge was told the accused is on disability benefit and was granted free legal aid.
Mr Berkeley is due back in court in July.
