Macklemore has been accused of sharing the favoured hair-cut of white supremacists. The rapper has responded to online claims by saying he "got rid of it" over a year ago.
Jon Hendren, who has the handle @fart on Twitter, said he believed that Macklemore was styled with "The chosen haircut of the racists". The self-proclaimed 'internet joke idiot' then called on the rapper to "denounce" the cut.
Macklemore responded to the tweet by confirming that he had, in fact, "got rid of it over a year ago".
Macklemore's updated hairstyle
Brendan Brady from The Village Barber in Ranelagh regularly cuts Macklemore's hair when he visits Ireland. He said he took the accusation with "a pinch of salt", adding that the style was not racist, just "very popular".
Brendan The Barber, who last cut Macklemore's hair when he played 3Arena last year, said the rapper began to slowly change his style from as far back as 2015.
"The haircut he is referring to is actually gone a few years, to become more of a fade with a traditional finish on top as opposed to that disconnected greaser look, which seems to be the look that people are associating with this tweet", he said.
