The Lord Mayor of Dublin has called on the Government to do more to help homeless people this Christmas after two rough sleepers died in the capital this week.
On Monday, a Lithuanian man in his thirties, who had been sleeping at the Four Courts, died.
The following day an Irish man in his fifties passed away in Ranelagh. He had been sleeping in a tent behind a hedge for several weeks.
200 emergency beds are ste to become available across the city by December 18th.
Mícheál MacDonncha - believes more needs to be done. There are additional emergency beds coming on stream, I'd like to see them come on stream quicker. There are over 200 which will be available over the next short period, but we need more than that.
The Lord Mayor is also reminding people to check in with older neighbours in their communities over the winter months as part of the cold winter initiative:
