The Taoiseach begins his official visit to the US for the St. Patrick's Day celebrations today.

Leo Varadkar is starting his trip in Texas.

Leo Varadkar's St Patrick's Day trip will see him take in events in 4 states.

Before the traditional White House visit and a meeting with Donald Trump later this week the Taoiseach is kicking off his tour of the US in Texas.

He's here in Austin to speak at the South by South West music and technology festival, where he'll be interviewed on stage about the Irish tech sector and opening up the economy.

Before that he'll meet the governor of Texas and attend an event with members of the Irish community in Texas before departing this evening in preparation for a trip to meet a Native American tribe in Oklahoma.

Minister of State John Halligan is today representing the Irish Government at the Manchester St Patrick's Day Parade.

One of the largest in Britain, some 100,000 people attended the parade last year.

It's part of a four day visit by Minister Halligan to Manchester and Liverpool, during which he will meet with local Irish business contacts and representatives.
