Armed robbers have raided the Ritz Hotel in Paris and stolen jewellery thought to be worth more than €5 million.
They had axes and smashed the windows of the world-famous hotel.
Three suspects have been arrested and at least two others are on the run.
Witnesses reported hearing gunfire yesterday evening.
One witness, who was in the hotel's Hemingway Bar, said she saw a "man wearing a ski mask... he had an axe in his hand".
Rory Mulholland, a journalist in the French capital, explained: "[It's] a very brazen attack, given that the justice ministry is right next door - and all ministries, and all government buildings, have security".
Security in the area was increased in 2014, following violent raids at several luxury jewellers.
