SIPTU and The National Bus and Rail Union have accepted an invitation to talks at the Labour Court.
The NBRU is advising that while it’s a positive step, a resolution to the Irish Rail dispute will be difficult.
SIPTU representatives are also going to attend discussions at the Labour Court tomorrow.
There are three further days of strike action planned by staff at Irish Rail, following the two yesterday and last week.
SIPTU's Greg Ennis, said he hopes to achieve "an acceptable resolution of the pay dispute."
Transport Minister Shane Ross says he won't be involved in the talks.
Irish Rail has said that it hopes that "the issues can be resolved in a manner that ensures customers suffer no further disruption to services."
