Ireland Women Call Press Conference To Highlight Unhappiness With Conditions
The Republic of Ireland women’s senior team will go public on their concerns over conditions that have left the players deeply disappointed.
The PFAI say they have outlined the players concerns to the FAI on multiple occasions "without any effective action being taken."
The Girls in Green are due to face Slovakia next week in a friendly, it remains unclear what impact if any this dispute will have on that fixture.
SIPTU along with the player's representative body have called a press conference for Tuesday morning to brief the media and the public on the “concerns of the players about the conditions under which they are expected to perform.”
The FAI held meetings with the player’s representative last night in a bid to address the concerns but 98FM Sport understands no resolution was reached at the eleventh hour talks in Dublin.
Members of the team will be on hand at Liberty Hall for the press conference.
The players are unhappy with the lack of a per diem, with the previously allocated €30 fee scrapped recently.
Those with jobs must take unpaid leave from their employers to fulfill obligations associated with representing Ireland at senior international level.
The PFAI say “these problems have previously been outlined on several occasions to the FAI by the PFAI on behalf of members of the women’s national football team without any effective action being taken.”
