A relative of Gerry "The Monk" Hutch is recovering this morning following a stabbing incident in Dublin last night.
It's understood Ross Hutch received an injury to his head in the assault, which happened in Portland Place shortly after 10pm.
Hutch was conscious when emergency services responded to the scene, and was able to communicate.
The attack is not believed to be feud related.
Local Councillor Christy Burke "The violence creates misery, mayhem and sadness, and it's only the start of the new year. I would appeal to anyone with information in relation to it, to give it to Gardaí."
"It's an area and issue nobody wants to see in their community", says Burke, "It then creates further armed roadblocks which nobody wants to be looking at, particularly young children going to school in the mornings. That's what it creates."
Burke believes locals are also hit hard by the violence on city streets "The community, and the families of those who are injured, are the ones who suffer at the end of the day."
