It has been confirmed that more than fifty people have fallen ill from an outbreak of Salmonella in North Dublin. Four children are among those who fell ill at First Holy Communions last weekend.
The HSE says five people were admitted to hospital and 16 of those ill have been confirmed as Salmonella.
It's understood a number of separate groups of family parties were supplied by a North Dublin food business on Saturday 13th May and Sunday 14th May.
The HSE and the Food Safety Authority has put together an Outbreak Control Team, which is now investigating.
In a statement, the HSE said "A North Dublin food business was identified as the common link in this outbreak. The investigation is focused on this business. A Closure Order was served on the food business on Friday 19th May."
Members of the public should contact their GP if they have any concerns regarding their health.
People who think they may be ill as a result of this outbreak may also contact the HSE's Environmental Health Service or Department of Public Health.
