Gardaí in Ashbourne have launched a murder inquiry after the latest gangland hit.
The body of Kane McCormack was discovered at Walterstown in Dunboyne yesterday morning.
He's believed to have been shot in the head and his body was discovered by a local woman in a field.
Detectives say Kane McCormack parked his '04 D' silver Peugeot 307 hatchback in the 'Aldi' supermarket carpark in Clonee Village at 5pm on Friday evening.
He then got into a black saloon type car and drove out of the carpark and turned right towards Dunboyne.
Shortly after 6pm that day, Gardaí in Finglas responded to a black Audi saloon car on fire just off the M50 at Meakstown Cottages.
Officers are now trying to establish any possible link between the murder and the black Audi car.
Gardai are looking for anyone who was in Clonee village, particularly in the Aldi carpark, at around 5pm on Friday evening and who may have noticed the vehicles to get in touch.
They also want to drivers with dashcams who may have traveled along the road through Walterstown after 5pm.
They're appealing for locals who may have noticed a black saloon car parked on the road between Leixlip and Dunboyne and to any person who was in the vicinity of Meakstown Cottages from around 6pm on Friday who may have noticed the burnt out Audi car to call them.
