Dubliners pay a third more for childcare compared to any other county.
A new report by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs says it now costs about €188 a week for childcare in the city.
It also showed fees are up by an average of €7 a week compared to prices last year.
The report was launched yesterday by Children's Minister Katherine Zappone and suggests that inflation, increasing rents and overheads such as insurance are some of the reasons behind the hikes.
Parents in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown pay the top price of €228 for childcare. They're followed by guardians in County Wicklow (€206) and in Fingal (€205).
