Padraig Harrington is facing another spell out injured after he ended up on the wrong end of another man's golf club!
The three-time major winning Dubliner was clobbered on the elbow during the practice swing of an amateur he was coaching.
Harrington took to Twitter this afternoon to reveal news of the injury which required six stitches and puts him out of action for up to 12 days.
However, Harrington wrote on his website in a little more detail about his initial fears that his career may have been finished by the strike.
"Whilst coaching an amateur golfer on how to cure his hook, I stepped in close to demonstrate the action for a fade, but as I was stepping away he continued to swing and caught me flush on the elbow.
"My initial thought was that the elbow was shattered and it was the end to my competitive playing career. I nearly fainted with the pain and shock.
"I applied ice to the elbow within seconds and also compressed it to minimise any inflammation. After an X-ray at the hospital I was delighted to learn that it wasn't broken, but it still required 6 deep stiches.
"I have been advised to be cautious and it will need 10 - 12 days for the stiches to heal, so I have been forced to withdraw from this week's FedEx St Jude Classic tournament in Memphis."
The 45-year-old had only recently returned following a 13-week layoff after he underwent surgery on his neck.
Unsurprisingly, the jovial Harrington was able to see the funny side of the incident!
