Dublin Zoo says it's extremely saddened by the unexpected death of one of its gorillas.
Lena died last month, after receiving around-the-clock intensive care for an as-yet unknown illness.
The 35-year-old had given birth seven times since arriving at Dublin Zoo in 1988, and mostly recently delivered in July 2016.
Teams are continuing to carry out tests on her body to figure out why she died.
Dublin Zoo Director, Leo Oosterweghel, said "the unexpected loss of our ageing, female western lowland gorilla Lena was very upsetting".
"She was 35 years old and had given birth seven times since arriving at Dublin Zoo", he said.
