The Irish Defence Forces have taken part in an international operation that's led to a major cocaine seizure in water between the UK and Ireland.
Defence Forces here were alerted about a suspected drug trafficking vessel, based on intelligence from the Maritime Analysis Operations Centre in Portugal.
An Irish naval vessel and Air Corps patrol aircraft carried out a surveillance operation.
The catamaran was intercepted by the UK's border force off the south west coast of Cornwall yesterday morning, and was escorted into Newlyn harbour.
A "significant quantity" of cocaine was discovered and removed from the boat.
Five men were arrested for drug trafficking offences and are being questioned by officers in the UK.
