Diarmuid Connolly To Decide On Ban Appeal
Diarmuid Connolly is expected to make the final decision on whether or not to appeal his 12-week ban.
He received the suspension yesterday, after an incident involving the linesman, in Dublin’s Leinster quarter final win over Carlow last weekend.
He was ruled to have had “minor physical interference” with Ciaran Branagan on Saturday evening.
The proposed ban from the Central Competitions Control Committee would see him miss the remainder of Dublin’s Leinster Championship defence, as well as any potential All-Ireland quarter final.
Connolly has 72 hours to decide if he will accept the ban, or appeal it to the Central Hearings Committee.
Sean Shanley, the Dublin County Board chairman, last night told the Irish Daily Mail “it will be his decision”.
Any potential appeal could focus on the officials’ decision not to deal with the incident at the time.
